Judy’s Got the Blues

LOVE this blue suit on Judy! It’s new, I’m pretty sure. The color is fabu. Such a rich sapphire. She wore it Friday.

Looking back to Monday, Judy wore this fetching blue dress. Love the tiny scalloped collar.

Yamiche might be losing her mind. She rearranged her shelf, without reducing the weirdness somehow. And why the rain cups on her right? My holiday lights don’t help to normalize the tableau.

Lisa’s got the holiday lights, too, but they look right with her all bundled up in Wilmington last Monday. Adorbs.

Back inside on Friday, nice to see Lisa’s decorated for the holidays, with ornaments on her china cabinet and a snowman off her left ear.

On Monday, guest Elizabeth Acevedo showed off her Frieda Kahlo portrait (or is it a tile) and her books arranged by color. We know how this blogger feels about that.

It warmed the heart to see Donna Shalala and say goodbye to her as she ends this phase of her career.

Differing opinions on Amna’s look on Friday. I liked the smooth hair and the patterned top. Some felt it was too great a departure from her usual (drab) attire. It worked for me!

Will try to do something about those lights! But don’t we all need some holiday cheer?

Who’s That Baby?

Look there – there, above the Gettysburg book near the top-right (her right) of Judy’s head. There’s a new photo. It’s a toddler! Who is it? Let’s try for a closer look:

That doesn’t help much, other than to confirm it’s a human kid, perhaps behind a jungle gym? Who is this mystery baby? I am dying to know. I even broke my no-research-into-Judy’s-life rule and tried to find out, but no luck. Let’s keep our eyes on that space, team.

Guess what book interviewee and reporter Jim Tankersley wrote? You’re getting good at spotting the book-pimping, my friends: The Riches of This Land, off to his left. I don’t understand Jim’s hair and I don’t recall seeing his byline in the New York Times, but I will keep an eye out. Props to him for a Liebling book on the shelf, though.

Not much else to report from Monday’s show, but the baby is big news!

Judy Interviews Another Cool Chick

Judy has worn this shirt numerous times. I feel confident she will get some new duds for Christmas, if she celebrates Christmas. I have deliberately avoided research into her life, preferring instead to concoct a fully-formed fantasy world about her.

I would also be fine with Judy consignment shopping, if she is trying to help the environment and underpaid garment workers by not purchasing new clothes. Hard to imagine Judy rummaging through the racks like I do, but she continually surprises.

Thank goodness someone got Yamiche out of that blue nightmare of a room. They popped her on the train (can PBS afford the Acela, or would Yamiche ride the grubby Regional?) and shipped her to Wilmington. All of the offices behind her look empty. Not surprising given Covid and the time of day.

Why does Kam insist on wearing black and brown together? Yucky. She could wear any color of the rainbow. I do dig the black pearls.

Judy had (one of my) girl crush(es) on her show! Megan Rapinoe, newly engaged and sans pink hair, made an appearance. She is fantastic. Judy showed pictures of the Rapinoe family and they all have the same great smile. I wanted Judy to congratulate Megan on her engagement, but then I thought about it, and considered that she would never say that to a man, so I’m glad Judy refrained.

Love Megan’s tie-die under the black blazer. I can even forgive the shameless book plug there off her left shoulder.

We love her.

Happy Thanksgiving to you!

Yamiche’s Background Is Bizarre

Once again, Judy is recycling her outfit. That’s ok because it’s not wasteful and she is always tasteful. There. I’ve rhymed. Not much to say about her the Monday top/dress other than it’s appropriate for the season and flattering. Ho hum.

Holy crap what happened to Yamiche’s background? For some reason it reminds me of a Sesame Street set: The Count might ask how many jars are on Yamiche’s shelf. This is bizarre. She’s gone from a completely generic exxecutive-housing type of set to this. Seriously, what happened? What the heck are the bronze things attached to the wall? If they are planters, they are empty. This cannot be a real room. What are the sunbursts? Decals? What the heck is going on with the whitewashed items on the shelf? What is this? Anyone?

Happily, Dr. Tony was back in the house, reminding us to be careful on Thanksgiving and not to travel for the holidays. He looked snappy in his Yankees’ pinstripes. (He’s a longtime fan.) I found myself wondering if he and Judy have a mutual admiration society. A professional crush, maybe?

Not sure I will blog again before Thanksgiving. I will try. If not, have a great one and be safe!

Everyone Loves Dolly

Judy has worn this number before. I like it. Kind of NASA-ish what with all the snaps and zippers. Michael Kors? Marc Jacobs? I don’t know.

Maybe New Mexico wouldn’t have needed a Covid “reset” (a.k.a. shutdown) if the guv had taken stricter measures earlier, but that didn’t stop Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham from looking snappy and state-appropriate. Don’t miss the pottery piece to her right:

Some commenters — and please keep ’em coming — ask why I don’t remark on Amna’s outfits.

Because they are BORING. Case in point:

She’s channeling Susan Dey in L.A. Law, circa 1988. What more can one say?

Growing old is not for the faint of heart, but age is a requirement to pull off this style of eyeglasses:

Rep. Dingell did it well. I am looking forward to sporting a pair of those.

Fashion editor Carrie Donovan took them up a size:

And so does, Iris Apfel, 90-year old style icon. She does it best:

Speaking of aging gracefully, Judy’s interview of Dolly Parton made my week. They are not a pair that comes to mind immediately, but Judy was adorable in her admiration of Dolly.

And why not?

Judy wore her best interviewing-for-my-first-real-job outfit, a blazer over a shell. Bonus points for noticing that she wore — rare — a necklace! The interview was a delight.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

It’s Baaack!

Yes, on Wednesday, Judy wore the “Dress That Launched a Thousand Comments” again. No one knows what its motif is or where Judy purchased it. PBS isn’t answering my entreaties. We will be left to wonder. I think I will email PBS again…

There. That makes me feel better. I’ve accomplished something toward our goal.

Judy did not wear anything else of interest this week; same old kimono dress (which I like) and a different blue dress or top.

Lisa was meh, too:

Yamiche is turning into quite a standout. Though she was asleep on her feet here, no doubt due to the grueling campaign coverage, she is wearing yet another snappy overcoat. This one is red:

My favorite look of the week came from a sartorial dark horse, Paul Solman.

Or should I say, DETECTIVE Solman?

Two thumbs up for the fedora. BTW, was it right that they made the senior reporter cover a story on seniors losing their jobs during the pandemic, or did he raise his (withered?) hand for it? I like his stories and I like him, so I will choose to believe Detective Solman asked to cover the story.

Brooks and Shields tonight! Judy loves them and so does this blogger!

It’s Fall on the NewsHour

On Friday, Judy looked skeptical, but I think this winter white looks just right! Winter white is actually a cream hue, but “winter white” is alliterative, so let’s go with that.

I notice that Judy never, ever wears a necklace. I think that’s interesting. Does she think it would get tangled in her mic? Of course, I think everything about Judy is interesting, so it’s a low bar.

I think Yamiche has upped her sartorial game this fall. Her makeup on Friday looked great, too. I note that she outlines her entire eye with liner. That takes a steady hand by either her or her makeup artist. I also like that her eyeshadow matches the hue of her new coat. Speaking of this coat, I love that the nape is so high. I also love the double, and double-wide, lapels. Nice going!

Lisa also matched her makeup to her outfit. Her rosy lips matched her Victorian-collared shirt. Trust me, it looked better than it does in this picture. I only chose this one because her cat is looking straight at the camera. The cat has supplanted the pumpkin, which is back in its rightful place on the side table.

Let’s bring a man into the blog:

David wore a comment-worthy getup on Friday. The tie was a lovely orange, just right for fall. The gingham shirt was an interesting choice, because I usually associate gingham with summer. It kind of worked. I am just with him on that painting.

For those of you that enjoy a good outfit, I recommend The Undoing, which unfortunately is not free to watch like Judy, because The Undoing is on HBO. Check out this now-iconic coat on Nicole Kidman:

But I digress. Sad that we may never know what kind of winter coat Judy wears, but it’s nice to think her in her always-cozy home or studio.

A New Day Has Dawned, But Not a New Outfit for Judy

Judy is looked good on Tuesday, even though this is a rerun outfit. My search efforts for the designer have been hampered by the fact that I don’t know what it is: a jacket? A top? a dress? Stand up, woman!

Monday was a tank top, not quite the thing for November, but it was in the 70s in the DC metro area. I will not dignify it with a photo.

Lisa was looking lovely and even a bit racy. She has dumped the hot rollers in favor of a smooth look. It’s so professional. The grey suit and low-necked shell are nicely offset by the patterned — what ? — peeping out. You can just see it in under her right lapel. Sorry I couldn’t get a better shot. If you can believe it, this is the best of four I took. Where is my photographer?

A rare miss by Kamala, as an alert reader noted. The blazer is swell — groovy wide lapels — but the black top underneath doesn’t work. Cream would have been better. Where are the pearls? I don’t think they would clash with the flag pin.

I dig the background: “Office of the President Elect.”

Have a great day!

It’s No Illusion! Joe Won!

Judy’s illusion neckline dress with three darts never fails to generate comments and questions.

Lots of fans of this look out there, even outside of the US. She has worn this before, but she saves it for special occasions like last Saturday night! The dress is not from the 2020 season, so it’s been difficult for this blogger to track down its designer. Well, impossible so far. Judy looked great as she covered Joe and Kamala’s first speeches as the “-elects.”

Lisa looked nice, appropriate and happy.

Kamala and Joe gave inspiring speeches and both looked great:

The Times had a whole piece today about Kamala’s outfit – the significance of the white pantsuit and her “pussy bow.”

That is a real term: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/08/fashion/kamala-harris-speech-suffrage.html.

The white pantsuit: a nod to the struggle to break the final glass ceiling, stretching from the suffragists through Geraldine Ferraro, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi and the women of Congress. A garment in a color meant, as an early mission statement for the Congressional Union for Woman Suffrage published in 1913 read, to symbolize ‘the quality of our purpose.’ Latterly redolent with frustration; now, finally, transformed into a beacon of achievement.”

There is also a blog devoted exclusively to Kamala’s fashion: WhatKamalaWore.

I also want to give a hurrah to a reader who tracked down Judy’s (maybe) bolero jacket: https://bellemiaboutique.com/shop/frank-lyman-bolero-020-black/. I cannot confirm this is the outfit, because it’s black, not blue, and it could have a notched collar, not the shawl collar Judy’s outfit had, but I LOVE the homework and the fact that a reader sent me the link!

Keep up the great work, readers!
